Suggested donation: $15 per person
Glen Ellyn Civic Center Gymnasium: 535 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137
The Civic Center is located on the south side of the Metra tracks, one block from the Glen Ellyn Metra station. A parking garage is located directly behind it. Enter through the back door on the south side of the building (located centrally along the back wall, somewhat behind the garbage bin enclosure), then take either the stairs or elevator (to the left) to the second floor and turn left to enter the gymnasium.
Cross-step waltz is the newest form of waltz, a beautiful, gliding form with many variations especially suited to slow waltz music. The workshop will cover the basics of traveling and turning cross-step as well as some easy variations to spice up your waltzing and a waltz mixer.
This is a beginner-friendly workshop - no previous cross-step or waltz experience required, though any couple or other dance experience is always helpful. No partner is needed. Please wear flat or low-heeled shoes (no spikes!) that you can move comfortably in. Leather-soled shoes will make it easiest to spin in waltzing!
Susan de Guardiola is an internationally renowned social dance historian and waltz teacher who has taught cross-step waltz and other dance forms across the United States as well as in Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, and Ukraine. She loves sharing the joy of waltzing!
